Membership

Co-ops are different than standard grocery stores and wholesale clubs;

they are democratically owned by their members.

Members purchase equity in the store through a membership which affords the co-op financial security and members special benefits and perks.

What membership means

When you become a member of the co-op, you become a part owner.

The store is collaboratively owned by members, which gives you the right to participate in the decision making of the store such as voting on resolutions, electing board members, or running for the board.

TipTop Co-Op is more than a place to shop; it's a business run by and for the community.

By investing in the co-op, you also invest in its local community. Shopping local keeps money circulating in the local economy, and co-op membership compounds this benefit. With over 30 local vendors and consignment artists, we provide a venue for many artists and food producers in Central MA and across New England. By comparison, only 2-3% of the products carried by the typical supermarket are local products.

Being a member of a co-op is one step toward increased control of our food system.

With grocery store chains across Massachusetts closing their doors to increase shareholder profits, ours stay open due to member investment and continued support. Because of this, TipTop Co-Op can stay committed to sustainability, reduced packaging, and sourcing products with ethical origins. We do extensive research on products and companies for stocked items in order to grow a more inclusive and responsible economy.
